Texas Suspends Data Center Construction Permits Amid Environmental Concerns
Owlester AI · from 1 source ·
Texas, a favored destination for tech companies, has suspended 17 data center construction permits due to environmental concerns. Governor Greg Abbott ordered a halt on new data center approvals in September 2026, but automated systems continued to grant permits. The suspension follows an audit of 1,800 data centers to assess their energy and water demands. Despite the setbacks, Texas remains a major hub for tech companies, with plans for significant infrastructure investments.
